[Review] Rick Riordan - The Son Of Neptune (Heroes Of Olympus #2)

I'm doing a buddy-read with @renzy.reads (you can find him on Instagram) of #HeroesofOlympus challenge within a week. So, we need to read the series before we hit Monday again. We started 21st September 2020 and end up at 27th September 2020. Today, I'm reading the fourth book of the series. One more to go.

I finished Son of Neptune last Thursday. Write the review drafts on my phone and write it on Goodreads. Now, I'm writing it here. Enjoy guys...

Title : The Son Of Neptune

Author : Rick Riordan

ISBN : 1423140591

Genre : Adventure, Fantasy, Young Adult

Rating : 5/5 stars

PERCY IS CONFUSED. When he awoke from his long sleep, he didn't know much more than his name. His brain fuzz is lingering, even after the wolf Lupa told him he is a demigod and trained him to fight with the pen/sword in his pocket. Somehow Percy manages to make it to a camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he has to keep killing monsters along the way. But the camp doesn't ring any bells with him. The only thing he can recall from his past is another name: Annabeth.

HAZEL IS SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD. When she lived before, she didn't do a very good job of it. Sure, she was an obedient daughter, even when her mother was possessed by greed. But that was the problem—when the Voice took over her mother and commanded Hazel to use her "gift" for an evil purpose, Hazel couldn't say no. Now because of her mistake, the future of the world is at risk. Hazel wishes she could ride away from it all on the stallion that appears in her dreams.

FRANK IS A KLUTZ. His grandmother says he is descended from heroes and can be anything he wants to be, but he doesn't see it. He doesn't even know who his father is. He keeps hoping Apollo will claim him, because the only thing he is good at is archery—although not good enough to win camp war games. His bulky physique makes him feel like an ox, especially in front of Hazel, his closest friend at camp. He trusts her completely—enough to share the secret he holds close to his heart.

Beginning at the "other" camp for half-bloods and extending as far as the land beyond the gods, this breathtaking second installment of the Heroes of Olympus series introduces new demigods, revives fearsome monsters, and features other remarkable creatures, all destined to play a part in the Prophesy of Seven

Love story, couples, losing memories, forget the other, got separated, and then bum... remember everything. Maybe if I read these in some romance novel I'll be crying, blaming why was the fate so cruel to the characters. But obviously not with these. I blame Hera - or Juno, in this book.

I can't even imagine how can Percy forget everything - except the name he remembered, of course - and woke up after in the deep sleep? I mean, almost months he slept and wasn't he hungry or thirsty or maybe want to go the bath? Oh I can't imagine those.

The adventures in Son of Neptune amazed me. I followed every trail that Percy and his friends left, trying to uncover every mystery and clue that was given by the gods or spirits. However, the answers I get at the end of the book are always different and surprise me. Uncle Rick sure knows how to make complicated unsolved puzzles.

and the war! how he described everything in such detail, thoroughly and as if we were also at war against the giants with Percy. Things get tense when the conflict is at its peak. I even wondered how Uncle Rick's going to end up with the ending.

The plot was completely unpredictable, that's why you need to read the entire books. I think this is the series, the only series, that could take me to its adventure, fight, solve mysteries, look for clues and solve problems together. For Gods's sake, I think I can't forget this entire series after I read it. I just hope I don't get caught in it, hahaha....
