Happy Monday, everybody. Hahaha I shouldn't say that because I know how (almost) everyone hate Monday.
Today, I come up with Red Queen's review because I've finished reading them but had no chance to write it a review. I read this series just like Caraval before, read it during the pandemi in my college. Okay fellas, here's my review...
Title : Red Queen (Red Queen #1) Author : Victora Aveyard ISBN : 0062310631 Genre : Adventure, Fantasy, Romance Rating : 5/5 stars
This is a world divided by blood—red or silver. The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change. That is until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power. Fearful of Mare's potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime. But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance—Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart.

So, Red Queen...
Honestly, I knew this book when I was in the last year of my high school. The very last year of my high school. It was also the beginning of my college year. I found this book in on a bookstore. I bought it because I like the cover. You know I like interesting, dazzling, elegant and unique cover. So, I took it and I bought it.
I never got the chances to read it until my last year of college year (and it was four years after I bought the book). Finally, I read the whole series before I read Caraval series.
I like how Victoria described Mare Barrow like a royal-fighter type. She reminded me of Katniss and America. She didn't step back when doing something dangerous in enemy's territory. I do really like the scene when she acted like she was the missing Silver Princess and engaged with one of those Silver Prince, Maven. But, she couldn't control her own emotion when she's getting close with the other Silver Prince, The Heir to the Throne, Calore.
Maven was a really nice prince. He treated Mare so good and had the responsibility like a fiancee did. I could tell that Maven was a dream guy to all silver girls (including girls in real life). He's nice, had the sense of humor, handsome, delicate and he had his way to comfort Mare, made her like she would be safe in his arm, and to be her hiding place. He always helps Mare to come out in every troubles she made. Even me, would fall into him if he was treating me that good.
Too bad, it was all an act...
I didn't believe it at first when Maven revealed his own truth. I was so... I couldn't say it in words but yes, I did angry, disappointed, annoyed, you can tell if you have read this book, but there was nothing I could do except to read this book until the end. Victoria really knows how to flip over readers' emotion.
If someone asks me who do you prefer between Cal+Mare or Maven+Mare, obviously, I will answer Maven because he had this chemistry with Mare. Cal and Mare, I kinda don't like it because Cal character wasn't strong like Maven and Mare. Cal didn't do it anything when his own throne taken away from him by his own brother and his mother because he's heart is too soft. I know he's good because he cared for Reds but seriously I didn't hate him, I just don't feel comfortable with his character.

Over all, I gave this 5 stars because the plot was twisted. The characters, the places, how everythings were going on, the plots, I couldn't guess the ending (because it has the second book) and it's waaaaay to good. I'm planning too write the second book's review after this and if it's not bothering you, you can check it and read it. Just go to my Review page, you'll find it there.
Thank you for reading guys.
Love, daugter of Poseidon (still has the Red Blood because I'm half human)
